Who says you need to go abroad to experience all the food and fun of a Christmas market? Add this one to your pre-Chrimbo ‘must-do in Dublin’ list, stat: the Gibson Hotel’s glorious Christmas food market is open once again, hurrah! Transforming the hotel courtyard into a mini-German Christmas market, this winter wonderland includes cute little chalets bubbling over with hearty festive favourites Santa Claus would totally approve of.
Best of all, you don’t need to be a hotel guest to roll up to the market and indulge. Prices start from €25 for two courses or €35 for three courses (and a complimentary glass of mulled cider or mulled wine on arrival) so it’s an affordable AND tasty way to get into the spirit of things. The highlight of the menu for many (veggies like me excluded, obvs) is the roast but there’s something here for all tastebuds – think spiced sausage with diced shallots, smoked bacon ribs to candied almond cones and traditional gingerbread – so, if you’re in need of a festive feast before the Christmas overeating marathon begins, step right up.
The market is open until 21st December so you’ve plenty of time to get down to the Point Village. Just remember to wear your fat pants.
